Joe Ventimiglia, M.D., Ph.D. is a board-certified family physician with twenty-six years of experience providing comprehensive primary care for children and adults in Texas. He received his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Dartmouth College in 1985, and his Ph.D. in tumor immunology and M.D. degree from Duke University in 1993. He completed his family practice residency, where he served as chief resident, at the University of Tennessee Memphis Baptist HealthPlex in 1996.
In the subsequent twenty-six years of practice as a board-certified family physician, Dr. Ventimiglia has also served as teaching physician for family physicians in training at UT Southwestern and Texas A&M for a total eight years, being recognized by the resident physicians in training as faculty of the year on three separate occasions. Dr. Ventimiglia is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP); the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP); and the Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS), where he serves on the Dallas County Medical Society Legislative Affairs Committee.
Within the broad scope of family practice and primary care, Dr. Ventimiglia has developed some areas of particular focus, experience and passion, that he hopes will complement, extend, and support the mental health services provided by Let It Rain Psychotherapy. Through his practice Total Health & Wellness Medical, located at the Colleyville office of Let It Rain, Dr. Ventimiglia offers comprehensive assessment of hormonal balance and of underlying or co-morbid medical conditions that affect mental health. When indicated for appropriate patients,
Dr. Ventimiglia offers treatment including standard prescription mental health medications and bioidentical sex hormone balancing (thyroid, testosterone, estradiol and estriol, and progesterone). He also offers patients a deeper look at how their particular genetic make-up may affect the way certain mental health medications work for them by use of customized genetic testing (https://genesight.com/product/) that can be used to guide the selection of mental health medications that may be best for them.
Dr. Ventimiglia practices medicine with a constant respect for the close relationship between mind, body, and spirit, and the passionate belief that health does not simply mean the absence of disease, but an optimization of the relationship between mind, body, and spirit throughout a person’s entire lifespan.
